Reflection:

1. Have you experienced the peace of Jesus in your life? Do you regularly experience His peace, or have you been tempted to reject “what makes for peace”?

2. How important is both the grace and the truth of Jesus?

Follow UP in the Word through the Week…

Monday:

Read: John 1:14

Try to explain what the gospel writer is saying here about Jesus. Why is it so important to that Jesus is “full of grace and truth”?

Tuesday:

Read: Luke 19:39-40

What are the Pharisees asking for and why are they asking for it? What is Jesus’ response? How does this apply to your life as you worship the Lord?

Wednesday:

Read: Jeremiah 7:3-20

What does the prophet report to the people about the Temple? What judgment does the Lord warn Israel about and how do you see similarities for Jesus’ judgment on the Temple in Luke 19?

Thursday:

Read: Luke 22:7-22

Spend some time thinking about this Last Supper. Why would Jesus use this time to institute what we call communion? How important are those elements?

Friday:

Read: Luke 23:26-49

What a solemn day this Friday is. He went to the cross for you and me. Spend some time today thanking Jesus for His loving sacrifice.

Saturday:

Read: Luke 23:50-56

At the end of verse 56 it says merely that they “rested according to the commandment” (ESV). Looking back at the betrayal and denial of Jesus that those who followed Him just had experienced, think about this 24 hours of despair of not knowing what was just about to be revealed. Luke just kind of drops this full day of not knowing. How blessed are we that we know what was about to happen?
