Follow Up in the Word through the Week…

Monday: Read: Genesis 4:3-10

What separated Cain and Abel? What attitude or impression did Cain suffer from before committing the same murder? When have you suffered from this same attitude?

Tuesday: Read: John 15:18-23

What is the world’s motivation to hate people who follow Jesus? Who else do people who hate the followers of Jesus hate? How does this help you to make sense of some of the attitudes that are pervasive today?

Wednesday: Read: Matthew 5:43-48

How does Jesus challenge us to love from these verses? What else does Jesus explain in these verses? How can that help you for what you may be facing today?

Thursday: Read: Mark 8:35-37

What does it mean to lay down your life? Jesus is pointing us to His example here. How have others laid down their life that you have known personally or have heard about?

Friday: Read: James 2:14-17

What practical outworking of love is James describing? How does that help you to identify an “undivided” life?

Saturday: Read: Jeremiah 17:9-10

In a world that tells you to “follow your heart,” how can this attitude be corrected by knowing that God is more powerful than our heart and that our heart can lead us to choose badly? What choices have you allowed your heart to make over obeying God?
