2. Can you sing to the LORD a “new song” this morning?
Follow UP in the Word through the Week…
Monday:
Read: Ephesians 5:19-21
Have you experienced this degree of worship? Why do you think this direction comes with a community aspect to sing these songs with others?
Tuesday:
Read: John 4:23-24
Who is this promise being made to? Why are spirit and truth important to worship?
Wednesday:
Read: Ephesians 5:1-2
When you think about what pleases God, how does the repeated phrase of a “pleasing aroma” help you realize that? What kind of worship and living “stinks” to God and what is a pleasing aroma?
Thursday:
Read: Psalm 98
Psalm 98 is a very similar psalm to Psalm 96. It again asks us to sing a “new song” to the LORD. What about a new song would bring depth to worshiping the LORD? When have you had a new song experience?
Friday:
Read: Lamentations 3:22, 23
Remember the context of Lamentations is the siege and destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC. How does that understanding shed light on these two verses which have been an inspiration to so many to sing to God over the years? Find the words to “Great is Thy Faithfulness” today and read them over, sing if you can.
Saturday:
Read: Romans 8:18-25
When you read about creation’s desire to see Jesus, how does this direct your attention to tomorrow’s worship service? How do you prepare your heart to meet with Jesus together?
