Reflection:

Maybe you have been waiting to receive the gift that God has been extending to you for years. You really think that you are being patient, but you have been putting God off because you are waiting for something else you think is better. Jesus is giving His gift of salvation and eternal life to you today.

Follow Up in the Word through the Week…

Monday: Read: Galatians 5:22-23

What has tested your patience lately? Have you asked to have the Holy Spirit bring this fruit into your life?

Tuesday: Read: Psalm 90:13-14

There may have been days Simeon was asking the question the Psalmist poses: “how long?” Is there a similar situation in your heart now where you need to call out to the Lord in this way?

Wednesday: Read: Galatians 4:4-5

Reflect on how God had brought about Jesus’ birth at just the right time. Reflect on each of the elements of these two verses and the truth of what God accomplished in His plan of salvation for you.

Thursday: Read: Isaiah 49:6

What promises in these verses match the statement made by Simeon in Luke 2:29-32? How does this affect you in God’s plan and promise?

Friday: Read: John 19:26

What prophecy did Simeon give to Mary in Luke 2:34 and 35? Where is Mary in this verse in John 19?

Saturday: Read: Galatians 5:22-24

How have you seen “the flesh with its passions and desires” crucified in your life? How does that need to happen in your life and how can the fruit of the Spirit aid you in the life God has for you?
